Groove Synthesis Releases OS 1.9c for 3rd Wave Synthesizers
Under the Hood Improvements for the 3rd Wave
Orinda, CA, December 24, 2025 — OS Version 1.9c for all three 3rd Wave models is now available as a free update, and it’s all about making your 3rd Wave an even smoother operator.
This version includes only a few updates, but has significant improvements to the synth engine when you play in multitimbral mode (controlling the parts independently) or when you have many effects active. Nothing flashy, just the behind-the-scenes work that keeps things running the way they should.
A special thanks to our friend loopop, who helped with the multitimbral playback improvement. Having musicians who care enough to dig into problems with us makes the 3rd Wave better for everyone.
What’s New in 1.9c
- Improvements to multitimbral playback to remove clicking sound when voices are stolen from a different part.
- Improvements to make the effects processing faster to prevent new cpu overages on patches with many effects active.
- New option for ring mod effect to choose when the note tracking resets (on note off or after release).
- Improvements to prevent the screen from jumping back and forth when you change two parameters at the same time.
- Added midi CC 7 for part volume on the 8M.
Also Included from 1.9b
- Improvement to playing multiple parts with unison enabled in multitimbral mode, so part release stage is not cut off by a different part.
- Fix for midi nrpn transmission when hold latch mode is set to specify which part is being updated.
Download the update from our support page and let us know if you have any questions.
Happy holidays from all of us at Groove Synthesis.
