FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
My unit’s response to MIDI channels seems wrong — it responds on every channel, ignores its configured MIDI In channel, or ignores per-part multitimbral channel assignments. Why?
Check the GLOBAL setting “MIDI MPE mode”. Channel behavior depends on a priority order between three GLOBAL settings: in normal mode (both Multitimbral and MPE off), the synth responds only to the single channel set by “MIDI in channel.” If “MIDI multitimbral mode” is on, the synth instead responds on the (up to four) channels configured via the “MIDI Multitimbral Channel Part” settings, acting like up to 4 independent synths — this overrides the plain “MIDI in channel” setting. If “MIDI MPE mode” is on, the synth responds to ALL MIDI channels since MPE controllers transmit note independent data across the different MIDI channels to achieve polyphonic expression — MPE mode takes precedence over multitimbral mode if both are set, and the synth cannot currently support being in both modes simultaneously (MPE always uses the full 16-channel MPE channel range, leaving no channels free for per-part multitimbral routing). If notes from other gear on the same MIDI bus are bleeding through, or a multitimbral setup is ignoring per-part channels, turn MPE mode off and confirm multitimbral mode/channel assignments are configured as intended.
