Can I stop the 3rd Wave USB drive from automatically mounting on my computer every time I connect via USB, and is the “Disk Not Ejected Properly” warning something to worry about?
GLOBAL setting “USB drive enable” (added in firmware v1.9a) lets you turn off automatic drive mounting entirely — useful if you’re only using USB for MIDI and don’t need file transfer; before this setting existed, the drive always mounted with no way to prevent it. Separately, macOS’s “Disk Not Ejected Properly” message when the synth disconnects from the computer, is expected, by-design behavior. This does not risk corrupting the drive under normal use. There’s no way to suppress the macOS warning message itself short of disabling drive mounting via “USB drive enable.”
