FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
What is the PPG and why do vintage synth fans specifically ask for it?
PPG Wave was the legendary German synthesizer that helped invent wavetable synthesis back in the early 1980s, and it defined decades of new wave and film score sound along the way. Getting that same glassy, stepped-wavetable character out of the 3rd Wave comes down to dialing in a specific combination of audio settings, the right wave flow settings, the PPG-style envelope shape, and circuit drift among them, and many factory presets already have it dialed in for you. Either way, vintage synth fans get an authentic PPG sound without hunting down 40-year-old hardware.
