Sawtooths and Steel: Groove Synthesis at Synthfest UK 2026
Bob Coover is packing up a bunch of synths and heading to Sheffield for Synth Fest UK on October 24, 2026. For the first time in the UK, we will present the new 3rd Wave Terminal Desktop App, which makes this a slightly bigger occasion than usual.
THE SOS FACTOR
SynthFest UK was created by Sound On Sound magazine, one of our most valued press partners. The awesome team at SOS has once again put together an epic lineup of synth brands and seminars. So, gear heads, put your heads on straight and keep your headphones ready.
What to expect
The venue is the Octagon Centre in Sheffield, a city that gave the world The Human League and Cabaret Voltaire, so the bar for synthesizer credibility is fairly high. Expect keyboards, desktop synths, software and “much more,” a phrase which here covers an unspecified but evidently generous quantity of knobs.
We’ll be there with the 3rd Wave family, ready for hands-on knob-twiddling: the flagship 24K keyboard, the 24M desktop module, and the compact 8M. If you’ve been circling these instruments for a while without committing, an afternoon of actually playing them is a better form of research than the internet’s comment sections.
The headlining act is the brand new 3rd Wave Terminal Desktop App. It organizes and archives your program libraries, lets you edit sounds in expanded, menu-free detail, and builds wavetables and multisamples straight from imported audio, including formats the hardware can’t digest on its own. Come see how it fits in with the hardware and decide for yourself whether it earns a permanent spot on your desktop
